We serve clients from Des Moines and surrounding communities.
Clients must come to us through an advocate associated with a social services organization, Des Moines metro school or religious organization.
There is a small fee to the agency for clients served. See fees section for details.
We provide beds, mattresses, kitchen tables and chairs, dressers, couches, living room chairs, linens, pots and pans, small appliances, dishes, silverware and other items.
We don’t provide clothing, large appliances or king sized beds.
We will provide a truck and driver to transport items to the client’s home but, in most cases, the client must provide unloading help.
The FreeStore’s mission is to help families start over. We are not a retail furniture store and reserve the right to not serve clients who do not fit our mission. Generally, a client can only use FreeStore services once in a 5 year period of time.
